Music Programme 2024

Music Programme 2024

For this year, we are exited to introduce you to the live performances so far! <3 Besides our main stage at DB’s, we will have an open stage just like last year!

OPEN STAGE

The open stage is where we encourage beginner and advanced modular music makers and lovers from the scene to join us to play a short live set (between 15-45mins), and become part of our festival lineup! The open stage is where you can tryout something you’ve never done before, finally get out of your synth cave and shake of that stage fright, or just bleep and bloop along for the fun of it!

If your interested in joining the open stage: Send an e-mail to: vrijwilligers@dutchmodularfest.com

MAIN STAGE

Julia Bondar

Julia Bondar is a Ukrainian born, Barcelona based electronic music artist, singer, and songwriter. Her journey as a musician started when she was making demos for Endorphin.es eurorack modular synthesizers to help her partner, Andreas Zhukovsky, the founder and developer of the Endorphine.es brand, to promote and demonstrate the possibilities of the freshly engineered modules for the market.

Bondar soon became a co-founder of the brand and moved the company from Kiev, Ukraine, to Barcelona, Spain. This triggered her to delve into the modular synth scene and develop her knowledge of synthesizers amongst fellow artists who have grown exponentially over the years.

Timo Rozendal

Timo Rozendal‘s passion for technology and sound converge in the realm of electronic music. Timo’s journey of creating electronic music stated in the late nineties and in 2015 he started designing and building his own eurorack modular synthesizers.

For DMF’24, Timo brings his self-made modules to life, expect a good dose of groove and swing! With three thriftstore cases full of analog and digital modules and a spaghetti of cables, Timo pushes the boundaries of sound and beats. The result is a both nostalgic as well as innovative musical investigation, infused with influences from classic 90s electronic music.

Aria Marzen

Aria Marzen is a fresh and upcoming artist in the techno scene, driven by a passion for merging the spontaneity of live instrumentation with the immersive power of electronic music.

Aria’s musical roots trace back to her ten-year dedication to the classical guitar, where she honed her skills with complex pieces. However, the rigidity of classical music left her yearning for more creative freedom. This led her to the world of electronic music production, where she quickly discovered the expansive potential of modular synthesizers. Aria found in modular synthesizers an instrument that allowed her to both play and create music in real-time. Her determination and ambition are hallmarks of her character, not just in music but also in her past as an athlete. Recognizing that her time and energy are finite, she made the bold decision to transition fully from classical guitar to modular synthesis, dedicating her free time, alongside her full-time job, to mastering this new realm.

Now, one year into her modular journey, Aria Marzen has learned extensively and is reveling in the process of creation. Her mission is clear: to spread joy through her industrial techno music, sharing her passion with the world from the stage. With her sights set on performing at major festivals like Stone Techno Festival, Aria invites audiences to join her on this exciting journey as she continues to push boundaries and elevate the live electronic music experience

Ines Kooli

Ines Kooli (b. 2000) is a Tunisian social, digital, and interactive designer. Her work is inspired by the political, cultural, and social dynamics of living between Tunisia and the Netherlands, exploring the benefits and challenges of navigating a bicultural existence.

Ines decided a few months ago to jump into the modular synthesizers world, and has since found pleasure in playing polyrhythmic drums merged with organic melodies.

Kooli graduated in July 2023 from the Design Academy Eindhoven, and her projects have been exhibited and showcased in various institutions, such as Het Noordbrabants Museum, Dutch Design Week, Uncloud, Het Centraal Museum, Het Park Theater, Spektrum, etc. Her first and only modular synth show took place at Voltage Control Amsterdam, in Paradiso.

WILCO PRINSEN

Next up in our artist lineup is the incredibly talented @wilcoprinsen ! An Amsterdam-based producer and live musician, Wilco crafts instrumental electronic music that seamlessly blends genres like indie, lo-fi electronic, IDM, and ambient. His journey from guitarist to modular synthesizer enthusiast has led him to explore raw, gritty sounds that are both captivating and imperfectly beautiful.

From his studio in Amsterdam Noord to live performances, Wilco builds complex compositions filled with multi-layered and rhythmic melodies, all emerging from a maze of knobs and wires. Don’t miss his set at Dutch Modular Fest!

Leo Novus (Erica synths)

We’re excited to welcome Leo Novus to Dutch Modular Fest 2024! Hailing from Riga, LV, Leo is an electronic music artist who masterfully blends Techno, Industrial, Tribal, and Experimental sounds.

At the heart of his improvised live performances are modular synthesizers, complemented by drum machines, effects pedals, and various Eurorack setups. Leo Novus brings dance floors to life, skillfully navigating his freewheeling machines through textural ambience, retro-futuristic DnB, and the industrial hammer strikes of analog techno.
